2012 is winding down and the tech community is already gearing up for their favorite time of year: the Consumer Electronics Show 2013! Beginning on Sunday, January 6th with the annual kickoff event in Las Vegas, the week will be packed with press conferences, showcases and, of course, the actual show floor itself where manufacturers from all over the country and the world will unveil the latest and greatest in technology for consumers (and let’s be honest, businesses).
And even though CES isn’t for another two weeks, the staff at PrinterComparison couldn’t wait to share some of what we are looking forward to in Vegas this year!
The Press Conferences
This year, the CES 2013 press conferences set for Monday, January 7th have been moved to Mandalay Bay. One can only hope that they are an upgrade from the Venetian convention rooms where you had to wait in staggering lines just to get inside and the room itself felt like a sardine can. But bombshell announcements usually make the suffering worth it in the end and the 2013 International CES Press Day is sure to have its share with manufacturers like LG, Sharp, Panasonic, Lexus, FujiFilm, Intel, Samsung, Casio, Ford, Sony and more!
At CES 2012, six printer manufacturers revealed major hardware and software introductions including two new 3D printers. We expect to see plenty more from the 3D print world as well as our old favorites in Canon, HP, Polaroid, Samsung and a new player in Casio.
Not every vendor can afford a huge fancy booth on the main stage at the Las Vegas Convention Center and even the ones that can realize the value of having a smaller arena to show off new products to their beloved press (and others). Enter the showcases!
Every year we hit two of the biggest in Digital Experience and ShowStoppers. Digital Experience is always held at the end of the official press day while ShowStoppers opens its doors at the end of the first day of the show.
In 2013, we expect to see some of the brightest stars in the consumer print industry at these events as well as the National Championship game in college football. Although, somehow, I think that will barely register on the tech enthuasists radar!
We’ll have a full rundown to share with our readers of both events before we head to private events held by the manufacturers where they wine and dine customers and even raise money for charity.
The CES Show Floor
It’s the grand daddy of them all! The CES 2013 show floor at the Las Vegas Convention Center promises to be the most exciting part of the week with three main exhibit halls – North, Central and South – as well as flow over exhibits taking place at the Venetian and the Las Vegas Hilton. When it’s all said and done, the CES show floor covers more space than 35 football fields (according to CEA).
The companies that exhibit spare no expense on their booths and compete every year on who has the biggest, flashiest and most unique booths – and that’s not even considering who has the coolest new technology! We promise to have plenty of photos and video from the show floor of our favorite booths.
This year, we’ll be visiting with Canon, Casio, Polaroid, Samsung and more so make sure you come back to check out what crazy and exciting booths – and products – they’ll be showing off in 2013!
