Canon Pixma MX432 Review: First Look

by Reads (4,787)

Last month Canon introduced three new budget-priced inkjet AIOs – the Canon Pixma MX512, Pixma MX432 and Pixma MX372. Priced at just $100, the Pixma MX432 can print, copy, scan, and fax. It can reach up to 9.7 black ipm print speeds and can print a photo in about 45 seconds – and features Canon’s new “Fast Front” system. This system allows users to load the ink and paper from the front of the machine.

The MX432 also features a 30-sheet ADF, Wi-Fi connectivity, AirPrint mobile printing, Full HD movie print, and can hold up to 130 sheets of paper. The color print resolution reaches 4800 x 1200 dpi. Check out our hands-on first look below for its decription, specs, pricing and availability, and for product photos.

Build and Design
The Canon PIXMA MX432 appears the same in design as most other Pixmas. That means it has a smooth, glossy black exterior and measures in at 15.2 x 18.1 x 7.9 inches. It weighs almost 19 pounds.

Looking from the top down, the first thing you’ll see is the 30-sheet automatic document feeder. Use the ADF to automatically copy or scan documents up to 8.5 x 14-inches in size. Lift under the ADF to see the 48-bit color flatbed scanner. The scanner features an auto scan mode, push scan, and scan to memory. It has a 1200 x 2400 dpi optical resolution and can fit documents and media up to 8×5 x 11.7-inches.

The control panel has a simple 2-line display. The panel has all of the main buttons and functions, including an alphanumeric pad for fax dialing near the center of it. Canon provides directional buttons, an enter key and a back key to navigate the display. Like we said, the actual panel is quite simplistic.

Folding down the center panel reveals the easy load compartment for loading the link. Only, it’s hidden behind yet another smaller compartment inside there on the right side. The Pixma MX432 works on a ChromaLife 100 two-ink system. It takes one black ink (PG-240) and one color ink (CL-241).

On the bottom is the 100-sheet paper tray and output tray. The paper tray is both collapsible and extendible. The printer holds various sizes of paper, including 4 x 6, 5 x 7, 8 x 10, letter, legal, and U.S. #10 envelopes. It can print on plain, regular glossy, super high glossy, semi-glossy, matte and envelope media.

The Pixma MX432 has a front size USB port for accessing and saving files via flash memory. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have a memory card reader (for SD cards and the like). The rest of the connections are located in the back, including the fax port, power, and the printer cable connection.
