Compared to other multifunction laser printers on the market, I would say the imageCLASS MF8050Cn is smaller than average with approximate dimensions of 17 x 19 x 17 inches.  I could lift the MF8050Cn so I know it’s at least lighter than most multifunction laser printers; it weighs in at 52 lbs. out of the box.

Design wise, the MF8050Cn is fairly basic with a boxy shape in gray and black tones and a small Canon logo on the front panel.  It’s taller than it is wide even without the scanner lid open so keep that in mind when choosing a home for the MF8050Cn.

The 50-sheet ADF is located on top of the scanner lid for scanning, copying or faxing larger documents while multi-tasking.  The ADF is compatible with media ranging from 5.5 x 5 inches to 8.5 x 14 inches.

The 24-bit CIS scanner is located directly underneath the ADF and features a maximum print resolution up to 9600 x 9600 interpolated dpi and 600 x 600 optical dpi.  The flatbed can scan documents up to 8.5 x 11 inches and offers a host of scanning options including scan-to USB.

The large control panel is centered on the 5-line LCD.  The imageCLASS MF8050Cn offers a slew of quick keys, a numerical key pad, four directional arrows for navigation, and direct access to the copy, scan and fax menus.  Every key on the control panel is well labeled and the LCD offers animation tutorials.

The 125-sheet output tray is beneath the control panel.  You’ll also find access to the toner cartridges behind the front panel which is opened from the front of the output tray.  The MF8050Cn uses four Canon 116 Cartridges: Cyan, Yellow, Magenta and Black.

The 1-sheet multipurpose tray can be found on the front of the MF8050Cn.  It’s perfect for using alternative media such as labels or envelopes.

The 150-sheet paper cassette is located below the multipurpose tray.  The MF8050Cn is compatible with multiple different types of media up to legal size thanks to an expanding paper tray.

On the back of the imageCLASS MF8050Cn, users will find the connection ports: 10/100 Base T Ethernet or USB 2.0 Hi-Speed.  Users will need to purchase their own connection cables depending on connection choice. There is also additional access to the paper path found on the back of the MF8050Cn.

The Canon imageCLASS MF8050Cn Color Laser Multifunction printer is available now on for the suggested retail price of $499.00.

Toner cartridges are also available on; a 116 Black is $80 and each 116 Color cartridge is $75.
