Overview

There are two types of crazed PC gamers when it comes to keyboards: The first group is the performance diehards who demand keyboards with premium build quality, precision key actuation, and a wide array of customizable features. The second group is the overzealous fanboys who are addicted to a specific game and they buy every lame keyboard covered with the logos for their favorite game.

As luck would have it, the team at Razer believes they can bring together both these categories of PC gamers with the Razer Licensed Gaming Products premium gaming keyboards, mice, mousepads, headsets and gamepads covered in those attractive logos that fanboys love. Today, were taking a look at the Razer Mass Effect 3 BlackWidow Ultimate Keyboard ($139.99 on Amazon): The perfect combination of a serious gaming keyboard and a Mass Effect fanboys dream come true.

Razer Mass Effect 3 Blackwidow Ultimate Keyboard

Razer’s mechanical keyboards are designed with serious gamers in mind; people who want precision feedback and throw (the difference between a pressed and unpressed key) every time they press a key during a game. When the life of your character is on the line in a game you need to know whether or not you pressed a key just by the feeling under your fingertips.

That’s why old school mechanical keyboards are nice, but as a result, they are also insanely noisy. You have a mechanical switch under each key that requires a full 50g of actuation force and 2mm actuation distance in order to register that the key is pressed – and those mechanical switches produce a sharp “click clack” noise while you type. In fact, if you type quickly and with heavy pressure it sounds almost like a large group of people snapping their fingers in the distance.
