Asus will soon release a full-size Windows 8.1 tablet with a keyboard. While that's nothing groundbreaking, what is surprising about the Transformer Book T100 is the price: $350.
A new generation of Atom processors have begun shipping, and Asus went to the Intel Developer forum to announce this tablet, which will be powered by a 1.33GHz quad-core Intel Atom Z3740 "Bay Trail" processor. It's going to include 2GB of RAM and either 32GB or 64GB of storage.
This device will be built around a 10.1 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel, IPS touchscreen.
The Transformer Book T100 will have a microSD card reader, and a micro-HDMI port, plus a 1.2 MP front-facing camera.
It will be bundled with Microsoft Office Home & Student.
Given its low starting price, some might assume that the keyboard dock will be sold separately, but it will be bundled with every unit for no extra cost -- making this a hybrid laptop rather than a tablet.
In addition to a typical laptop-sized keyboard and touchpad, this will include a full-sized USB 3.0 port and a second battery that can allow this computer to run 11 hours.
The tablet and keyboard will each weigh 1.2 lbs.
