On Friday Acer launched two new touchscreen notebooks, the Aspire R7 and the Acer Aspire P3.
The Acer Aspire R7 ($999.99) will offer a 15.6-inch touchscreen along with a hinge that allows the notebook to rotate the screen and convert into a tablet. The keyboard has been moved closer to the edge while the touchpad has been moved closer to screen, in an attempts to make it easier to user the touchscreen. The Aspire R7 will be available starting at $1,000 sometime during mid-May. Acer also announced an exclusive partnership with Best Buy for this product.
Dual hinge technology in the Aspire R7 allows for single-hand switching between modes and keeps the display rock-steady when touched (see our image gallery above for more images).
Acer also unveiled the Acer Aspire P3 ultrabook ($799.99). Similar to the R7, the Acer Aspire P3 will be able to convert into a tablet, making it the company's first convertible ultrabook. The P3 will offer an 11.6-inch screen, along with either an i3 or i6 processor, and a 60 or 120 GB SSD drive. The convertible ultrabook starts at $800 and is available for purchase now.
