These 1.7-inch portable cubes feature a TFT LCD touch sensitive display, which allows users to play games by shaking, tilting, flipping, rotating, pressing, and "neighboring" the cubes. The Sifteo base acts as a speaker and a home button for the cubes, but it also syncs downloaded games to the cubes via its 2.4 GHz wireless radio.
Sifteo designed its interactive cubes in a way that makes for a very small learning curve, especially given the instructional and visual prompts on the cube screens. The Sifteo Cubes would make a gift for almost anyone since they involve creativity, puzzles, brain busters, education, strategy, and more. Personally, I enjoyed playing games on a device that did not distract me with notifications for emails, texts, or phone calls. The games will appeal to all game lovers aged 7 to adult; with games like Ninja Turtles Ninja Slide, featuring Nickelodeon's Ninja Turtles, and games such as Bliss Bomb that requires players to unlock patterns and sounds with connected cubes. These cubes would make for a great gift under any tree and could bring a hands-on educational spin to a fun tech gift this holiday season.
The Sifteo Cubes retail for $129.95 USD, on this Christmas Day, which includes the base station, three cubes, a soft carrying case, a USB cord to sync the receiver with new games, and 5 AAA batteries, making the last minute scramble for batteries unnecessary. Add on cubes go for $29.99 USD, at the time of this writing, and the 6 cube bundle, which includes everything in the three cube bundle plus three extra cubes, for a bigger Christmas gaming gift, are $199.95 USD.
