Lenovo today announced the new ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch, an update to the existing ThinkPad X1 Carbon, adding a 10-finger touch display to what Lenovo calls "the industry's leading business class Ultrabook." The X1 Carbon and X1 Carbon Touch both share the same high-grade carbon fiber chassis and legendary ThinkPad durability.
Weighing in at just 3.4 pounds and a mere 20.8mm (0.81 inches) thin, the ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch features a new 14-inch HD+ (1600 x 900 resolution) touch display in addition to using the same large multi-gesture glass touchpad that the team here at NotebookReview.com called "better than every notebook PC touchpad we've used to date."
Despite the thin and light design, the X1 Carbon Touch comes with your choice of Intel Core i5 and i7 processors as well as Dolby Home Theatre v4 audio. The new optional slim 65W AC adapter -- measuring just 17mm thin and weighing 53% less (235g) than the standard AC adapter -- is being offered with the new touch screen Ultrabook. Lenovo's RapidCharge technology also provides the industry's fastest charge times while still delivering what Lenovo claims is 8 hours of battery life.
The X1 Carbon Touch provides peace of mind for businesses thanks to security and manageability including vPro, an integrated fingerprint reader, a trusted platform module and BIOS encryption.
Pricing and Availability
The ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch will be available starting in December through business partners and www.lenovo.com. Models start at approximately $1,399.
