Panasonic has announced its Toughbook C2 today, a Windows 8 ready semi-rugged laptop, aimed at mobile workers in healthcare, education, and field sales. It will feature Microsoft Windows 8 Pro 64-bit operating system, an Intel Core i5-3427U vProTM processor, 3MB cache, and up to 2.8 GHz.
The touch-enabled 12.5-inch HD display will be anti-reflective/anti-glare and will accommodate multi-touch gestures for controlling Windows 8. The laptop will have the abilities to be easily converted into a tablet, with an electronic pen suited for note taking and capturing signatures. Panasonic is advertising the Toughbook C2 as having an 11-hour battery life depending on usage conditions.
A high-definition 720p webcam will be included with a built-in microphone; an additional 3MP rear-facing camera will also be an available option. It will come equipped with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and optional 4G LTE or 3G Gob, ensuring on-the-go professionals will be able to access their data from the road. It will be available this December in the US and will retail starting at $2,949.
