Eurocom Racer (Clevo P150HM) Review: Superior 15-inch Gaming

BUILD & DESIGN
The Eurocom Racer is based on the Clevo P150HM chassis and, as such, it features the typical Clevo generic laptop appearance. There are no distinct lines or design elements that allow someone to instantly identify this as a Clevo notebook. On that note, the only reason anyone will be able to recognize the Racer as a Eurocom notebook is the fact that the Eurocom logo is showcased in chrome letters on the lid. That said, with a maximum thickness of about 1.7 inches and a weight just under seven pounds, it won't take long for people to realize this notebook packs more than a typical 15-inch laptop.

The P150HM is constructed entirely of plastic and with a build quality that is pretty good. The plastics on the top half of the chassis are thick and feel like they have a solid support structure, but the bottom half of the notebook exhibits a little flex and produces a hollow sound when tapped. The lid and palm rest areas are covered in a durable rubberized paint similar to a Lenovo ThinkPad business laptop or a modern Alienware gaming notebook. The rest of the pastics are matte black with the exception of some glossy black trim around the screen. Honestly, we wish the screen bezel was made of matte plastic so fingerprint smudges wouldn't be as visible when you open and close the lid.

The chassis feels pretty solid other than the hollow sound on the bottom of the notebook; you won't be able to easily twist this laptop between your hands like a cheap netbook. The display is strong and the hinges offer plenty of tension to hold the screen in place. This beast is pretty heavy at 6.82 pounds but it's not so bad when you consider that the 14-inch Alienware M14x weighs 6.48 pounds with weaker hardware inside.

As you would expect with a Clevo-based notebook, you can easily access all of the internal components from the bottom of the machine ... essential for custom notebook resellers. For those readers who aren't familiar with "resellers" like Eurocom, these companies purchase what are basically unfinished notebook shells from a notebook builder such as Clevo and then install a variety of components based on customer orders. This means you'll have easy access to the inside of your notebook if you need it ... and Eurocom can even help supply replacement or upgrade parts if you need them in the future.
