HP ENVY 14 Spectre Ultrabook Available for Order
The ENVY 14 Spectre is a new high-end Ultrabook. It includes a large 14.5-inch display, weighs a shade under four pounds and measures just 0.8 inches thin.
This Ultrabook is larger than we’re used to seeing – notebooks like the Toshiba Portege Z835, for example, have a 13.3-inch screen. And it’s a ton more expensive; we’re used to seeing them come in at $1,000 or less, but this one STARTS at $1,399. Options on the ENVY 14 Spectre include a 256GB SSD for $300 (it comes standard with 128GB) and a slightly faster Core i7 dual-core processor for $200 (the standard i5 is more than fast enough for most tasks). 4GB of memory is standard; upgrades are not available.
The lid of the notebook and the palm rest are glass, which is not something you see everyday on a notebook. So the notebook certainly has added premium features, though whether it’s worth the comparatively high asking price next to other Ultrabooks – is of course at the buyer’s discretion.
There is a lengthy thread on the HP ENVY 14 Spectre in our HP ENVY forum – head there to talk with other interested buyers!
