Lenovo IdeaPad U260: Our Deal of the Week

The Lenovo IdeaPad U260 is a 12.5-inch ultraportable notebook that we define as a MacBook alternative in a PC package. It comes equipped with an Intel Core i5-470UM dual-core processor (with CULV and Turbo Boost technology), 4GB of system memory at 1066MHz), and a 320GB SATA hard drive at 5400rpm. The notebook also has Intel GMA HD integrated graphics and is known as the first ultraportable notebook to feature 12.5-inch display.
In our review of the Lenovo IdeaPad U260, we said that the "U260 might just be the best looking Lenovo notebook we've ever seen" up to that point, as far as design goes. Some design features in the 3-pound notebook include the Chiclet or island-style keyboard, a sleek and aesthetically-appealing design, and the thin metal chassis. The U260 also has soft-touch palm rests, which, doubled with the Chiclet-style keyboard, helps to create a pleasing typing experience.

During our performance tests we found that the hardware in the netbook can handle multi-tasking, basic tasks, browsing on the Internet, and so forth. For comparison purposes, its overall processing performance places it between the Alienware m11x and the Sony VAIO YB.
Other perks include lap-friendly computing (meaning it doesn't get too warm), a decent multi-touch glass touchpad, Dolby Advanced audio, and an HDMI port.
