Gateway today unveiled its updates to the ID and NV Series multimedia and general use notebooks, promising more functionality, a revamped style and the "latest in mobile technology." The ID Series notebooks feature a smaller form factor, an advertised 8 hours of battery life, and a 14-inch HD LED display with "edge to edge" glass. The 15.6-inch NV Series features multimedia hardware and functionalities such as a AMD Radeon HD 6620G graphics card (US only), an AMD Quad-Core A8-3500M accelerated processor (1.5GHz) with TurboCORE Technology up to 2.4GHz (US only), and social networking quick launch buttons. Both lines also come equipped with one USB 3.0 port. Certain specifications in the series will vary depending on location.
Gateway ID Series
The 14-inch ID Series has received a stylistic restructure in its design; it features sculpted edges and comes in blue or platinum, has a smaller chassis, the multi-gesture touchpad is 20 percent larger, and has an aluminum cover. Additionally, the notebooks have Dolby Home Theater v4 audio and a mesh speaker bar that reaches almost the full length of the top of the keyboard. The notebook measures in at 12.97 (W) x 8.95 (D) x .85-1.13 (H) inches and has a 6-cell Li-ion Battery (6000 mAh). Each notebook comes with an HDMI port, two USB 2.0 ports, a media card reader, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, and an 8x DVD SuperMulti double-layer optical drive. The Gateway ID Series have a starting price of $700 USD and $800 CAD and are available now in the US and Canada through select retailers.

Gateway NV Series
The 15.6-inch NV Series has also received a revamp in its design. It now features a "wave" pattern on its matte chassis lid, a Chiclet-style keyboard, and a silver/white color. The series is equipped with either second-generation Intel Core or AMD A-Series processors, Intel HD Graphics 3000 and 128 MB of dedicated system memory. The series can provide up to 4 hours of battery life (advertised). Select models in Canada come with NVIDIA GeForce GT graphics with optimus. Each notebook also comes with a Gateway MyBackup function key for safeguarding and taking notebook data on the go. The series is equipped with a 6-cell Li-ion (4400 mAh) battery, an HDMI port, two USB 2.0 ports, a media card reader, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, and an 8x DVD SuperMulti double-layer optical drive. The Gateway NV Series have a starting price of $630 USD and $549 CAD and are available now in the US and Canada through select retailers.
