Today Getac announced the release of its upcoming military-certified rugged flagship notebook, the 15.6-inch X500. Getac's President Jim Rimay claims the X500 has "over twice the performance" of the Getac A790 and combines the features of the older B300 and M230 rugged notebooks.

Processor options include Intel Core i5-520M (2.4GHz) and Intel Core i7-620M (2.66GHz). Physical memory can be configured from 2GB to 8GB. The QuadraClear "sunlight readable" display with 1000 NITs is 15.6-inches with a 1366 x 768 resolution. The system comes with a standard 8700 mAh Li-ion battery. Storage options can be configured to be dual storage drives and USB 3.0 ports and Wi-Fi boosters can be added individually.

Pricing and Availability
The X500 will be available from Getac starting on July 6 with a price range of $4,999 and $6,599. The price will depend on individual notebook configurations and options. The systems come with a full "bumper-to-bumper" 5-year warranty and is EPEAT Gold certified.
