The ASUS UL20FT on Amazon sports an Intel Core i3-380UM processor, a nice 4GB of DDR3 RAM at 1066MHz, and a 500GB capacity SATA hard drive at 5400 RPM--all of which are better specifications than our review model specifications--for a lower price. The notebook is being sold through Amazon for about $600, but you can also snag it brand new through other vendors on there for about $550.

Weighing in at just 3.3lbs and measuring at 11.8 x 8.4 x 1 inches, it's easy to see why this notebook could be called "ultraportable." The notebook runs on Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit) and has a 12.1-inch 720p (1366x768 resolution) screen with LED backlighting. In the review of the UL20FT, we said that the notebook qualifies for a "very good" build quality score due to the solid chassis that doesn't flex or make any noise under pressure. We found that the screen displayed nice contrast and sharp colors.

The CULV-enabled Intel Core i3-380UM delivers good performance while still running on a low voltage to heighten the unplugged battery life. Our review model was able to stay on for about 4.5 hours during our tests with the standard included 6-cell Li-ion battery (47Whr), but we mentioned that if you lowered the brightness, that would obviously go up. As previously mentioned, the Amazon model actually has significantly better specs than our review model--something to take into consideration while reading our review of the UL20FT.
