Sony unveiled the upgrades to the 13.3-inch S series and the 16.4-inch F series notebooks today. The S-series are most notably thinner and lighter, and have more power than the last. The F-series is focused on gaming and multimedia capabilities. Both series are available for pre-sale today through Sony's website and select retailers.
Sony VAIO F Series
The 16.4-inch F series (F2 series) notebooks have the high 1920x1080 resolution on a widescreen display and pack Intel Core i7 quad-core processors. Hard drive options include up to 750GB. Graphics card options include the NVIDIA GeForce GT 520M (512MB VRAM) and the GeForce GT 540M (1GB VRAM). There are also USB SuperSpeed 3.0 ports included with each model. Color choices are black, silver, and white.

Sony VAIO S Series
The 13.3-inch S series (SA and SB series) notebooks are lighter, thinner notebooks with a 0.95-inch thickness and a weight of 3.8 lbs. Exact dimensions are 13.04" (W) x 0.95" (H) x 8.84" (D) with the standard battery. Sony is offering an optional sheet battery with these models for an extra $150. The extended battery was tested by Sony to deliver up to 15 hours (when coupled with the standard battery) of mobile life with Windows using the default power settings.
The Sony VAIO S series will also pack Intel Core i7 processors. Some models include dual channel solid state drives with RAID 0 technology. Choose up to an AMD Radeon HD 6630 (1GB VRAM) hybrid graphics card. The S series is available in brown, black, silver, pink, and blue.

As previously mentioned, both lines are available for pre-sale today. The F series start out at $1100 and the S series start at $1350. The optional sheet battery for the S series is $150.
