Skooba Weekend Warrior Bag Review

The Skooba Weekend Warrior features a Nylon twill exterior and checked nylon interior, both of which are labeled as water-repellant. The duffel bag has overall exterior dimensions of 24 x 12 x 12 inches. The bag tips the scales at 49 oz. (3.06 lbs) completely empty and has room for loads of items. I was able to fit the following gear in the bag:

• HP Pavilion dv7, 17-inch laptop
• Dissembled video gaming guitar
• Folder with papers
• Notebook power adapter
• Laptop cooling pad
• Mouse
• Kodak digital camera
• Xbox 360 controller
• Size 9 women’s shoes
• Two sweaters and two pairs of pants
• Countless miscellaneous items (cell phone & charger, 4 DVD-Rs, etc.)

Although the bag was able to fit all of these things, I would not recommend chocking it this full. My bag was a bit much to lug around; but even though, the shoulder strap didn’t slip off my shoulder. Speaking of the shoulder strap. A standard detachable and slip-resistant shoulder strap with hand-grips is included with the Weekend Warrior. The padding on the shoulder strap added the extra comfort a shoulder would need because of the number of items stuffed in there.

The Weekend Warrior comes with four outer compartments and one outer pocket near the top. The left side compartment has an extra pocket on the front; perfect for carrying little gadgets such as a phone charger or a digital camera. Inside the left compartment is an elastic mesh pocket along the entire back; good for toiletries and items you’d like to grab quickly while on the go. I was able to fit my size nine sneakers into this compartment, although just barely. You might struggle with closing the zipper if you wear shoes as big as or bigger.

The front compartment runs across the entire front of the bag for maximum space-holding and includes two separate mesh pockets next to one another with their own zippers. Along the back of this compartment, there is a clear wallet-sized pocket for wallet cards, three small cord-holding type pockets, two larger pockets, and four even larger pockets behind the smaller ones. All of these spaces would be suitable for cables, chargers, and etc. This is the compartment I was able to fit my slippers, phone charger and Xbox 360 controller into.

The right compartment includes a mesh pocket for a bottle or can and an elastic cord with a stopper for added protection while carrying the drink. The bag gains more points for protection because this mesh water bottle pocket can be zipped up so the bottle can lie smugly inside. And, if you happen to wear shoes bigger than size nine in women's, you can tie your shoes to the right compartment through the hole intended for such a shoe. The inside of the right compartment is built exactly the same as the inside of the left compartment.

The back compartment/pocket is significantly thinner than the rest of them (especially when the main compartment is filled), but it was still able to hold my fairly large cooling pad. It is the only outer compartment/pocket that doesn’t zip; instead, it latches with a single strip of Velcro.

The main compartment is divided into three sections. The first can hold larger electronic devices such as my dissembled Guitar Hero guitar and comes with two mesh pockets sewn into the sides.

The second (middle) section is not necessarily a section because it can be completely removed from the bag. However, it can hold up to a 17-inch laptop (measured diagonally) and perhaps a folder too, or something thinner. This removable slipcase pouch is designed with sturdy padding around both sides and a sleeve with two strips of Velcro to go over the whole notebook so it stays enclosed. Although the slipcase isn't designed to function as a stand-alone notebook bag it does offer plenty of protection and fits nicely inside the duffle bag.

The third section of the duffle bag holds a weekends’ worth of clothes and other items in the four mesh pockets around the section. There is yet another larger pocket scaling the back of this section.

All in all, the bag has just over two dozen pockets and compartments; more than enough for most of us to hold just about anything for the weekend.

Conclusion
The Skooba Techlife Weekend Warrior is currently selling for $124.95 and combines a massive duffel bag with a notebook slipcase and padded storage compartment. Although this bag is a little too large to carry into the office, it's extremely convenient for business travelers who need to pack several days worth of clothes and bring their laptop and accessories along as well.

The zipper hardware looks and feels a little cheap for a bag with this high of a price tag, but it's hard to dislike a duffel bag with this much storage space and this much padding around your laptop.
