Sony just announced an updated VAIO P ultraportable notebook, adding one-touch buttons for accessing the Internet, adjusting screen resolution and launching tune-up software. The refresh also brings a small touchpad to complement the pointing stick already included on the VAIO P. The design mounts the touchpad surface on the right side of the screen with left/right buttons on the left. In the previous model, the screen bezel was blank, although it did have plenty of room for added features.
The new VAIO P will start at $799 with a 1.6GHz Z530 Intel Atom processor (a faster Z560 is an upgrade option) and feature a new accelerometer, orange, green, pink, black or white color options, and Windows 7 Home Premium. Battery life is quoted as being five hours on the standard battery and 10 hours with an optional extended battery.
