Samsung adds 3G to N150 netbook

If you are one of the many would-be netbook buyers with the view that 3G connectivity is a mandatory feature for such a portable device, then you can now add the Samsung N150 to your short list. A new 3G-enabled model has joined Samsung's N150 netbook roster. The N150-Black (V) model features 3G wireless connectivity from Verizon. This 3G-enabled model has the same core specs as the standard N150 model: 1.6GHz Intel Atom N450 CPU, 1GB memory, Intel GMA3150 graphics, and a 160GB hard drive. It also features a 10.1-inch display, a 6-cell battery, and Windows 7 Starter.


When asked about availability and price, Samsung declined comment. But let us extrapolate, using HP's and Gateway's 3G netbooks. The standard, 3G-less Samsung N150 carries a list price of $349. If you consider that HP charges $125 to add 3G mobile broadband to select models, then you might expect to see the N150 Verizon model to come in around $475. Then again, Verizon may sweeten the deal, offering a deep discount in exchange for a service contact. To wit, the Gateway LT2016LT retails for $599, but buy it through Verizon with a two-year contact and it's yours for $99.99. All of which is to say, the 3G-enabled Samsung N150 could cost anywhere from $99 to $475.
