Acer Aspire Ethos Notebooks Announced
Acer today announced its latest series of notebooks, the Aspire Ethos. These consumer multimedia notebooks are available with the latest Intel Core i-series processors and up to an 18.4-inch display.
Two models have been confirmed so far - the 18.4-inch 8943G and 15.6-inch 5943G. They feature Intel Core i5/i7 dual-core and i7 quad-core processors, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5850/5650 graphics cards, available Blu-ray drives, and up to 1.28TB of storage via two internal hard drive bays (640GB x2). The 8943G has full HD 1080p (1920x1080) resolution display while the 5943G has 720p (1366x768).
Multimedia features abound on both notebooks; the 5943G features a 2.1 setup with two integrated speakers and a dedicated subwoofer, while the 8943G ups the ante with five integrated speakers (that is correct - five speakers) plus the subwoofer. Sound technologies included in both notebooks include Dolby Home Theater, Dolby Pro Logic IIx, Dolby Headphone, and several other Dolby technologies.
Acer claims the notebooks can go for up to 3.5 hours of battery life with their 8-cell 71Wh (4800mAh) battery packs. The 5943G weighs in at 7.3 lbs while the 8743G tips the scales at just over 10 lbs.
There is no word on pricing or availability at this time.
