Acer Not Interested in Producing iPad Competitor

Acer Taiwan President Scott Lin said in a DigiTimes report that the company will not be producing an Apple iPad competitor. An iPad-like device would not fit into Acer's business model, apparently. Instead the company is going to continue pushing ultra-thin notebooks this year, which are expected to account for 20-30% of its shipments. Standard-sized notebooks account for 50-60% of Acer's shipments, and netbooks 20%. Last year the company shipped about 31 million notebooks.
