According to reports from Taiwan news website DigiTimes.com, Dell notebooks with AMD processors will start selling in the next couple of weeks. The price ranges for these notebooks are reported to be in the $449 - $499 range, meaning they will be low end machines and likely Dell will feature them in the budget Inspiron B130.

Initially Dell will target the low-end notebook market because that's where a lot of the potential holiday sales will be to borderline notebook buyers. However, by the end of December it is reported that Dell will start selling a 17-inch model notebook with an AMD processor. The 15.4-inch notebook is being manufactured by Quanta Computer while the 17-inch model will be made by Compal Electronics.

At the moment AMD makes up only 15% of the global market in terms of notebook CPUs, but with Dell now using AMD processors in notebooks it is expected to jump. Dell will use 20 million AMD processors during the first year of their partnership that stretches from the 4th quarter of 2006 to the 4th quarter of 2007. The initial shipment of AMD machines this November will be 500,000.

Since Dell is going to be selling these AMD notebooks in the $500 range and we know they're 15.4" type machines, it is highly likely the current Inspiron B130 will be used with the AMD processors.
