The Acer Ferrari 5000 and Ferrari 1000 were announced today. The Ferrari 1000 is an ultraportable 12.1" screen notebook featuring the Turion X2 dual-core 64-bit processor while the Ferrari 5000 is a 15.4-inch desktop replacement style notebook with the Turion X2. The new Ferrari notebooks will sport a carbon fiber case as usual and will support the HD-DVD optical drive

Known specs for the Acer Ferrari 5000:
The Ferrari 5000 will replace the currently available Ferrari 4000 series notebook which is a 15.4" notebook with a Turion processor and ATI X700 graphics card. One thing Acer did not disclose in their news press release is the type of graphics card the Ferrari 5000 will have, we'll assume they have something in there and it would likely be the ATI X1600 graphics card. It would be dissapointing for them to dub the Ferrari 5000 as a top of the line notebook and not include dedicated graphics.
Known specs for the Acer Ferrari 1000
There's no indication from the Ferrari press release as to what the optical drive is on the Ferrari 1000, or if it has one even. No specifics on the particular speed Turion X2 processor being used on these notebooks either. Stop back for more information as it becomes available on these notebooks!
