Dell Recalls Millions of Power Adapters for Inspiron, Latitude and Precision Notebooks

Dell has made a recall of approximately 4.4 million AC adapters sold worldwide between September 1998 and February 2002.  These adapters are being recalled for overheating issues and were sold with Inspiron, Latitude and Precision series notebooks.  Dell will replace these adapters for free to those consumers that have them.

Although nobody has yet been injured by these faulty AC adapters, which were actually manufactured by a company called Delta Electronis that is based in Taiwan, there have been 7 reports of overheating.  Adapters that overheat pose the risk of fire and electrical shock.
